Objective: To teach the doctor and staff the key elements of documentation as derived from the national standards in order to produce patient documentation that will contain the required information avoid committing fraud and abuse.

Timeline:

Hour 1:  Introduction and Documentation Standards – An introduction to documentation and a review of the national standards for medical documentation. Chiropractic Treatment Paradigm – A discussion of the particulars that make chiropractic unique and how to properly prove the medical necessity of the care provided.

Hour 2:  The S.O.A.P Documentation Format – An overview of the S.OA.P. documentation format and a review of additional information needed in patient documentation. The Subjective Element – A review of the Subjective element of S.O.A.P. and what information is needed in that element.

Hour 3:  The Objective Element – A review of the Objective element of S.O.A.P. and what information is needed in that element.

Hour 4:  The Assessment Element – A review of the Assessment element of S.O.A.P. and what information is needed in that element. The Plan Element – A review of the Plan element of S.O.A.P. and what information is needed in that element.

Approved For Continuing Education Credit in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri.
PACE courses are accepted for Continuing Education Credit by The State Boards of Alaska, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming. The State Board of Colorado does not pre-approve courses, but this class meets the criteria set forth by their respective boards.
